Long Grove may not have a magnificent mile or any high fashion boutiques, but it has some very distinctive shops. Long Grove doesn’t allow any commercial stores or any convenience marts, so all of its shops are small and are owned privately. The shops are located in Long Grove’s downtown area.

There are several traditional German shops. Long Grove’s Apple Haus has traditional German apple pies, apple cider and other apple products.

The Farmside Country Store has specialty food, wines and gift baskets. Even though Long Grove is small, its stores are very eclectic. There is Casa Brazil, which is a Brazilian import shop. Long Grove’s Benefits

Friday, June 6th, 2008

Long Grove is one of the smallest suburbs in the Chicago area. The population is well under 10,000 and the town is not expanding or developing like the surrounding suburbs. The town is also very old-fashioned with cobblestone streets and antique storefronts.

The town looks very similar to how it did in the mid 1800’s. Although living in Long Grove can sometimes feel like living in the past, it is located very close to one of America’s most modern cities, Chicago. The city of Chicago is only 35 miles away. Living in Long Grove is a wonderful way to live simply and comfortably but still enjoy the urban amenities a town like Chicago has to offer. Long Grove does have a mall and a downtown with about 80 shops and restaurants for everyday shopping and dining.

If you want to see a good theatre show, shop at designer boutiques or go to a four star restaurant, Chicago is better suited. Luckily, it is only about half an hour away so it is very convenient. I’ve lived in Long Grove for several years now. I love the fact that I can indulge in big city activities and then return to my home in Long Grove, which seems to be in the middle of nowhere.

Of all the places I have lived in my life, Long Grove is by far my favorite. If you would like to live in a cozy small town near a big city, Long Grove is a wonderful option. Find a home in Long Grove at Real Estate in long Grove, Il.
