Long Grove’s Old Time Charm

Long Grove, IL is well known for its antique feel. It stands out because it is a very traditional town in the midst of many modern suburbs. Other towns struggle to imitate big cities like Chicago by adding more shops, restaurants and lights, but Long Grove does just the opposite. Long Grove doesn’t even allow streetlights or neon signs.

Long Grove was founded by German immigrants in the 1800’s. The town looks much as it did in its early days. There are no sidewalks or curbs and the streets are cobblestone and are lined with tulips and other flowers. Old covered bridges can still be found in the town going over Indian Creek and Buffalo Creek. The community spends a lot of time and money restoring old buildings, homes and nature areas.

The storefronts are all required to be in a mid1800’s architectural style. The homes in Long Grove are built in the old German farmhouse style. They are larger than the average Illinois home and are surrounded by large areas of vegetation. Long Grove is a handsome town with a lot to offer you and your family.
